The scale today
According to MeitY, India hosts more than 1,700 global capability centres employing over 1.9 million people, with sector revenue of $64.6 billion in FY24, growing about 9.8% a year.
Government and FICCI-ANAROCK projections both point to roughly 2,400 centres employing about 2.8 million people by 2030, with the market reaching $105–110 billion.
Why tier-2 cities
Talent costs, attrition and office rents in the largest metros push companies to look further. Cities with engineering colleges, lower costs and improving connectivity, including Raipur, are positioned to take a share of that growth.
The work is also changing: GCCs increasingly own product engineering, data and AI, not just support functions.
What it means for local businesses
A larger local tech workforce raises the bar for software everywhere in the region. Local firms that adopt modern tools early will find it easier to hire and to partner with larger companies.
For engineering teams outside the metros, the opportunity to 2030 is to prove delivery quality remotely, with clear processes, documentation and measurable outcomes.
